Gala Zarzuela
featuring Plàcido Domingo

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Placido Domingo's debut, the Arena di Verona Foundation has staged a gala on its prestigious stage during the 2019 Opera Festival, a gala featuring the great Placido Domingo as the absolute protagonist.
The program, which included singing and music and moments of prose and dance, reserved a special place for the zarzuela, a musical genre with which the famous tenor debuted at the beginning of his career when he performed in his parents' company.
Our scenic intervention of video projections interpreted the feeling of this music, dance, and narration as a succession of frames.
The frames appeared as deep darkness; on the contrary, they welcomed the light of our emotional visions, following the path of abstraction and poetic evocation of the created environment.
We animated with mapped videos, using a backdrop and proscenium tulle; three large frames moved scenically. In this way, we created the different atmospheres of the show with an immersive effect, following the scene's rhythm dynamics.
