Nuit Espagnole
featuring Plàcido Domingo
@ Théâtre Antique d’Orange 2019
In 2019, on the occasion of the 150th edition of the Festival de Le Chorégies d'Orange, in the Théatre Antique, Placido Domingo was staged with a repertoire of the Spanish music genre of the Zarzuela. With him is tenor Ismael Jordi, soprano Ana Maria Martinez, and the Antonio Gades Dance Company; conducted by Maestro Oliver Diaz with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Montecarlo.
The scenic space, completely free, left the field to the projections on the façade of the theater, 137m long and 37m high. The entire surface was filled with bright and defined images, optimally integrated by the play of light on the stage level.
The images were designed to adapt geometrically to the building's tripartite façade, mapping the entire surface and redesigning it with new shapes and colors.
We could interpret the warm Spanish atmosphere of the zarzuela and flamenco. The video projection dynamics broadened the scene's warmth throughout the show.
